1. Change Management

A project manager must guide people to embrace change for their benefit, even though they may be fighting it or they may think they know a better way. When customers and stakeholders do not adapt to the change it is your problem, not theirs. Change management is a responsibility of the project manager. It is a role that is under appreciated,… under utilized… and frankly not recognized by many project managers. Change management is complex… and there is no cookbook recipe you can just go out and apply. Change management is necessary for success. Just like a battery stores up energy you need to store up knowledge of change management and then apply when needed.

"The Change Management seminar is full of terrific information and is presented well. It covers what Change Management is, why it is needed, who needs to be involved, how to go about it, and pit falls to look out for. The one page document that goes along with the seminar is also very helpful because it covers the major points and a checklist to succeed. I have that printed out and sitting on my desk now. Thanks James for covering an important topic and a fun & interesting seminar!"

It identifies the advantages and disadvantages of Critical Chain. This course is a must if you are considering using Critical Chain or if you are supporting a project that has deployed critical chain. This course clearly illustrates the difference between the critical chain and the critical path. A step by step walkthrough of a critical chain project schedule is performed. Additionally, valuable take-aways from the Critical Chain philosophy are provided that you can use for traditional project management scheduling methods.

"The course is an entertaining and informative overview of the Critical Chain approach to project scheduling. Dr. Brown combines theory, application, and real world common sense to present the material. I would recommend the course to any project manager or other individual wishing to gain a basic level of knowledge about the Critical Chain concept."

3. Collaboration Strategies for International Conference Calls

The conference call is an essential element of today’s global business environment. Unfortunately conference calls are often poorly planned, poorly executed with correspondingly poor results. Today’s technology provides excellent tools for global conferences, but like all tools it is ineffective without proper human intervention. This course provides timeless principles that assure successful outcomes.

"Everyone who will ever lead or participate in a meeting should view this course – not just those working internationally! I would make it a prerequisite for participation on my project teams. International Conference Calls and Meetings provides a tutorial on all the key elements for successful meetings, expands these for use with international as well as domestic audiences, and incorporates creative tips for increasing effectiveness – all in one hour of training. The course addresses most of the meeting aspects that, when neglected, can result in unsuccessful, confused, or unproductive meetings. I have always found Dr. Brown’s presentations to be highly insightful and this offering hits the target, offering the Why along with the How that is important in motivating students to continually improve their practices."

5. Project Requirements

There are many ways projects can fail. They can go over budget, miss the target date or under deliver on promised capability. Although they fail many ways one of the primary causes of all types of failures is poor requirements management. Poor requirements management makes every aspect of the project management lifecycle more difficult, often to the degree that adequate control cannot be achieved. This course provides an overview of the key elements for successful requirements management by project managers.

"I am so glad I found onePDU.com. As we all know, collecting PDUs can be challenging, but OnePdu makes it easy. It conveniently delivers great content at a great price. The Project Requirements class was terrific! It gave me the refresher I was looking for as well as practical take-aways I can use to formalize the baseline of my projects and ensure every requirement has a “Daddy.” I have already told other PMPs I work with about OnePdu.com, and I plan to take additional courses very soon."

6.Resource Leveling

Successful project management includes execution of a variety of tasks. These tasks cannot be executed haphazardly but must be executed in an orderly sequence. Executed in a sequential way that makes sense for the project based on it’s physical constraints and dependencies. It also must be executed in an orderly way based on the resources that are available to perform the project. If the project has resource constraints, the critical path method is a practical way to generate an impractical schedule. Thus, resource leveling is necessary to generate a valid project schedule. This session will teach you about the resource leveled project schedule.

"Dr. Brown seems to get immediately to the crux of the matter when discussing resource leveling and Critical Path. He is extremely knowledgeable and can explain any subject to any skill set. "

I found the OnePdu.com Technical Writing course to be an excellent source of new ideas and re-enforcement of past learning and experiences. I can apply the techniques presented immediately to improve my technical documents, it's a great source of information for IT professionals at all experience levels.
